By finalizing the takeover of Twitter, Elon Musk could also act on the merger of the social network with the Parler platform.
After twists and turns worthy of the greatest soap-operas, Twitter will finally be bought by billionaire Elon Musk. A transaction worth several tens of billions of dollars, which should materialize by next year. At the same time, it was rapper Kanye West (Ye) who formalized the acquisition of Parler, the social network with non-existent moderation and favorite playground of the far right.
A priori, these two acquisitions are unrelated. And yet, they could spell the death of Twitter as we know it. Since he formalized his desire to buy the blue bird, Elon Musk has always assumed a very personal vision of freedom of expression, advocating minimum moderation (except in the case of illegal content), and actively campaigning for the return of Donald Trumpbanned from the social network after his role in the attacks on the American Capitol.

For his part, Kanye West is regularly targeted by controversy. Latest: the rapper closed his haute-couture fashion show with a series of t-shirts bearing the “White Lives Matter“. The acquisition of Parler therefore sounds like a rather worrying step for Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband.
Will Twitter and Parler merge?
Very close to Kanye West, Elon Musk has never hidden his desire to collaborate with the rapper. This time, it is on Twitter that the billionaire has set fire to the powder, by publishing the same from the manga Dragon Ball Z. We discover there Musk and Ye in full fusion, each sporting the logo of their new social network (Parler and Twitter), as well as a mysterious “Wait for it” caption.
If it has since been removed (presumably for legal reasons related to the still-unfinished acquisition of Twitter), the message seems pretty clear : by buying the blue bird, Elon Musk obviously plans to apply the same moderation policy as that already present on Parler. Even to literally merge the two platforms into a single entity.
