Burel survivor of US Open qualifications, Moutet eliminated

While waiting for the Franco-French duel between Geoffrey Blancaneaux and Enzo Couacaud (interrupted) and Léolia Jeanjean’s match against Georgina Garcia-Perez (scheduled later in the night), the French are not successful in qualifying for the ‘US Open.

This Friday, only Clara Burel joined the main round of the American Grand Slam by winning the third set tie-break (2-6, 6-4, 7-6) against the Japanese Misaki Doi. The 21-year-old Frenchwoman alternated the good and the bad on her face-off (11 aces, 8 double faults) to finally get out of it.

The rest of the blue contingent was less successful since Corentin Moutet lost in two sets (7-6, 6-2) against the Chinese Yibing Wu (178th in the world), as did Hugo Grenier against the Slovak Norbert Gombos (114th ), defeated in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) and Chloé Paquet, also beaten in three sets by the Czech Linda Fruhvirtova (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).
