After his new turnaround to finally accept the acquisition of Twitter, Elon Musk gave some explanations about his relationship to the platform in a portrait published by the Financial Times.
“I play the fool on Twitter, often I shoot myself in the foot and cause me all kinds of problems”, indicates the billionaire to the British media. “I don’t know… I find it vaguely therapeutic to express myself on Twitter. It’s a way of conveying messages to the public.”
A reliable and inclusive way to exchange ideas
A lawsuit against the social network is supposed to begin on October 17 to settle the dispute between the company and its future buyer. Finally, Elon Musk is indeed preparing to take control of Twitter. To prevent the trial – for the moment adjourned – from taking place, the takeover operation must be concluded before October 28. Despite this about-face, the businessman assures us that his intention is not a fad.
“I’m not going for the money,” he says. “It’s not like I’m trying to buy a yacht and I can’t afford it. I don’t own any boats. But I think it’s important that people have a way too. as reliable and inclusive as possible to exchange ideas, and that this means be as reliable and transparent as possible.”
On October 5, the day after his change of position, Elon Musk explained that the takeover of Twitter was “an accelerator to create X, the all-purpose application”. However, his statements recall the intentions of a certain Donald Trump wanting to defend free speech (the famous “free speech”). The former president of the United States had also launched his own social network to satisfy his desires. According to Elon Musk, “Truth Social is essentially an echo chamber of the right.”
But when asked if his initial takeover offer was a joke, the entrepreneur’s response gets weirder: “Twitter is definitely an invitation to raise his pain level.” And to conclude: “I think I must be a masochist.”
