Elon Musk says he sold 10,000 bottles of perfume to “buy Twitter”

Elon Musk got into the perfume business. In a new statement shared on Twitter, the billionaire claims to have already sold 10,000 bottles of his “Burnt Hair” fragrance, for an amount of just over one million euros.

A new string to his bow. The boss of SpaceX (rockets), often announced as the richest man in the world, has just launched his perfume Burnt Hair (“burnt hair”).

“With a name like mine, it was inevitable that I would end up in the fragrance business – why didn’t I do it before?!”, posted the latter yesterday on the network at the blue bird (Musk translates Musc into French). In the process, the businessman was pleased to have already sold 10,000 bottles, for an amount of just over 1 million euros, before tweeting with humor: “Thank you for buying my perfume, so I can buy Twitter”.

Elon Musk is expected to reach an agreement to buy the social network for 44 billion dollars by the end of the month, failing which a trial must take place in November on this eventful operation.

The businessman, who now defines himself on Twitter as a “perfume salesman”, markets this fragrance for 100 dollars (103 euros), via The Boring Company. On the start-up’s website, this red bottle and its perfume are depicted as “the essence of repulsive desire”.

This is not the first time that the businessman has embarked on the sale of unexpected products. In 2020, he notably marketed a Tequila Tesla or even, more absurdly, a flamethrower.
