For the first time in Ariège, several predations attributed to the wolf have been observed by agents of the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB). They were highlighted in the municipalities of Mérens-les-Vals and Orlu, during the month of August, in parallel with other damage noted in Angoustrine and Porta, on the Pyrénées-Orientales side.

“Compensation for damage is in progress, informs the prefecture. In addition, support for the mountain pastures by support shepherds has been put in place in order to adapt the means of protection to the presence of the predator. Finally , the OFB remains vigilant to a possible evolution of the situation in the sector with the installation of a camera trapping device, complementary to winter monitoring.
