In this city, there will be no more meat or fish in the canteen at the start of the school year

For the 2022-2023 school year, the menus of Grenoble schools will be above all vegetarian. The municipal council ruled on the menus of school canteens this Monday, June 27, informs us Actu Grenoble

All the pupils of this town in the Rhône-Alpes region will therefore be able to taste a standard menu made up of legumes, cereals, eggs and cheese. A decision motivated in particular by an ecological conscience: “The consumption of meat and animal husbandry represent one of the first causes of global warming”, declared the City.

However, the town hall will not impose the vegetarian menu on all students since an option with meat or fish will also be offered to parents, free of charge. They will have to choose the menu for their children at the start of the school year.

This measure is part of a certain continuity in the quest for better eating for the City of Grenoble, which already offered between 1.5 and 2 vegetarian meals per week. The municipality wants to be very committed with a rate of 65% of organic supply and short circuit for school catering, teaches us Actu Grenoble.
