The case had hit the headlines. Last November, Kheira Hamraoui (32), midfielder for Paris SG and the France team, was the victim of a terrible attack. This Wednesday, in the columns of The Teamshe chose to come out of silence to tell her pain. “I experienced an attack of incredible violence. Two hooded strangers took me out of the car I was in to beat me in the legs with iron bars. That night, I really thought I was going to stay there…”she explained before continuing.
“I was screaming in pain. I tried to protect myself as much as possible. This scene, for me, lasted five minutes. It was unbearable. I keep a very painful memory, very heavy. (…) I experienced a real ambush. These individuals were waiting for me behind a truck. They were in the right place at the right time.”, she said, asking countless questions about the reasons for this ambush. Deeply marked by the physical and moral trauma, the player also had to deal with the frenzy of the media sphere and the repercussions of this news item within the locker room of her club and her selection.
If she did not wish to mention why the name of her partner Aminata Diallo had been mentioned at the start of the affair, the former resident of FC Barcelona however swept away any relationship with Éric Abidal, a time also associated. “The subject of Éric Abidal is not one and has nothing to do with the attack of which I was the victim”she quickly launched, thanking PSG and its staff for their support and admitting to having changed many of its habits and behaviors.
Determined to return to Les Bleues one day and continue the Parisian adventure, Kheira Hamraoui now wants to turn the page on this terrible autumn evening. With a single request. “A lot of questions torment me: why me? Why so much violence against me? I need the truth to come out to calm me down. (…) I was heard on several occasions. The investigation evolves. I need this to materialize in order to move forward in my personal reconstruction. I am calm and patient. The truth will eventually come out”she concluded.
