No more teleworking, Elon Musk asks his employees to return to the office… or to resign

Elon Musk does not go there by four paths. He wants Tesla employees to put an end to telecommuting and return in large numbers to work within the company. In a note sent by email to employees, the boss expressly asked them to return to the company’s premises, reports BFM Business.

If they don’t want to… they are simply asked to leave the company. “Anyone who wants to work remotely must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean a minimum) of 40 hours a week or leave Tesla”, is it written in this message revealed by American media whose Electrek.

“The older you are, the more your presence should be visible”

According to the note, Elon Musk says he is ready to examine the case of those who could not meet the minimum hour of attendance. “If there are particularly exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible, I will review and approve those exceptions directly,” he wrote. The billionaire also recalled that the 40 hours of weekly presence requested were “less than what we ask of workers in factories”.

The boss of Tesla was questioned on Twitter about this memo revealed by the American press. “Do you have an additional comment for people who think coming to work is an outdated concept? “, we ask him. “They should pretend to work somewhere else,” he replied simply.

In a second email, Elon Musk highlighted the company’s culture of excellence, stressing that the presence in the premises of the company could only be profitable. “The older you are, the more your presence should be visible. There are of course companies that don’t require this, but when was the last time they shipped a great new product? It’s been a long time,” he added.
