Rouen. At the 3 brothers restaurant, a discovery of Tibetan gastronomy

The 3 brothers restaurant opened in August 2022 in rue des Bons enfants in Rouen.

A new tibetan restaurant, 3Brothersopened at 28 rue des Bons enfants in Rouen (Seine Maritime) in August 2022. The cozy atmosphere of the small establishment plays on folklore. Prayer flags and photos of the country hang on the walls. A portrait of the Dalai Lama sits above the counter.

Lobsang Dusumshikha, the manager, also plays music from Tibetan music videos. The menu, meanwhile, gives pride of place to dishes from his country, but also opens up to other horizons.

Momos, thenthuks and tsampas

“I did a cooking course in France,” says Lobsang. I know dishes from French and Asian cuisine, but we are keen to launch this restaurant to present our cuisine and our Tibetan culture. Thus, you can enjoy momos, a kind of ravioli, in many ways, but also thenthuks (pasta) with or without broth, or even tsampas, cakes made from barley. All accompanied by a salty or sweet Tibetan tea.

“In Tibet, it’s very cold, so we serve a lot of hot drinks, dishes and broths,” says Lobsang. It is a healthy cuisine with few spices in which the taste of meat and vegetables is favored more. To attract fans of other styles of Asian cuisine, it also offers more familiar dishes such as bobun, noodles or even poké. We preferred on our side to try the Tibetan dishes, without regret.

3 Brothers, at 28 rue des Bons enfants in Rouen. Open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. Tel.: 07 51 31 99 57. Find the menu on the restaurant’s website.
