While billionaire Elon Musk has just bought the social network Twitter, he has already shared an article that turns out to be fake news. This supporter of total freedom of expression wishes to set it up on Twitter.
Barely three days after taking over Twitter, Elon Musk posts a conspiratorial article about the assault on Nancy Pelosi’s husband. Paul Pelosi was assaulted by a stranger, but the article argues that it was a male prostitute he knew, a pure invention. He has since deleted his tweet, without apologizing. “Elon Musk is used to spreading information that turns out to be false. He says he only passes on information, only participates in a discussion and never apologizes”, explains Aaron Sharockman, executive director of Politifact.
The billionaire defines himself as a supporter of total freedom of expression, and wants to implement it on Twitter. A few months ago, as part of criticism of health measures against the Covid-19 pandemic in Canada, he posted on Twitter a photo comparing Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of the country, to Adolf Hitler. He then deleted it, without apologizing. Elon Musk allows himself everything, likes to shock and decides everything, alone, very quickly. Politically neutral until recently, he seems to have moved closer to the Republican right and Donald Trump seems to like him. The latter, expelled from Twitter for the repeated disclosure of fake news, welcomed the takeover of the social network by Elon Musk.
